One Health Summer School in South Africa 13 – 26 July 2014

In het magazine van december 2013 stond een verslag van Janneke Schreuder over de One Health Summer School (OHSS) 2013 in Zuid Afrika. Dit jaar vindt opnieuw een OHSS plaats in Zuid Afrika:

Chance of a lifetime: One Health Summer School for “elite” students in South Africa 13 – 26 July 2014

Following a very successful One Health Summer School (OHSS) in 2013 the Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Pretoria now organises the second One Health Summer School (OHSS) at the livestock/wildlife/human interface in South Africa. The Summer School is open to a very limited number of participants, “elite” students, from RVC, UU, UC-Davis, SACIDS, CIRAD, Iowa State University and UP. The OHSS will be held from 13 – 26 July 2014 at various locations in South Africa. For an impression of the 2013 OHSS by one of the participating students, please have a look at pages 11-13 of Hygieia’s ‘Mens en Dier’ magazine (http://issuu.com/hygieia/docs/md-0304-dec2013).

Costs for participation are € 1,100.-, including transfers between RSA international airport and Onderstepoort, all transport in South Africa, accommodation, 3 meals per day with soft drinks, entrance and conservation fees to various museums, parks, packed lunches for day trips as well as a package of DVD’s of a range of diseases e.g. buffalo, rift valley fever, etc.

Flights, visa, insurance, vaccinations and alcoholic beverages are excluded from the fee.

FVM-UU will take care of all course fee costs.

Participants will pay for their own flights, visa, insurance, vaccinations, alcoholic beverages, souvenirs etc.
